3 held with 94-kg touchstone Shiva Lingam in Sirajganj

SIRAJGANJ, Nov 1, 2025 (BSS) - Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-12) have arrested three smugglers with over 94-kg touchstone Shiva Lingam in a raid from Salanga area under Ullapara upazila of the district.

The arrested are Md. Jahangir Alam alias Bablu, 52, of Bhengri village, Md. Shahidul Islam, 52, of Dabirganj village and Md. Kafil Uddin, 48, son of Md. Abul Kashem of the same village in Ullapara upazila.

On a tip-off, A RAB team conducted a drive in the house of one Hamidur Rahman Labu at Dabirganj village on Friday evening and was recovered the Shiva Lingam. At that time, three people involved in smuggling this touchstone were arrested, said a RAB press release this morning. 

During the initial interrogation, the accused confessed to smuggling the Shiva Lingam from Bangladesh to abroad by keeping it in their custody. 

A case has been filed with Salanga Police Station in this incident.
