Two arrested with drugs and weapons in Faridpur

FARIDPUR, Nov 1, 2025 (BSS) – Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-10 has unearthed the mystery behind the robbery incident in which a housewife’s earrings were snatched at gunpoint in Faridpur district. 

The prime accused Shariful Islam alias Don Sharif, 38, and his associate Raihan Molla, 25, have been arrested along with drugs and weapons.

RAB-10 Commander Additional DIG Mohammad Kamruzzaman, PPM disclosed the information at a press briefing held at the CPC-3 Faridpur Camp of RAB-10 at 11 am on Saturday.

According to RAB officials, the robbery had sparked panic in the locality after armed assailants forcibly snatched gold earrings from a housewife. Acting on intelligence, a special RAB-10 team conducted raids in various areas and arrested the duo from Saltha upazila of the district on Friday evening.

During the drive, RAB recovered a pistol, a gun, two motorcycles, scissors, a knife, and a mobile phone used in the robbery. Drugs were also seized from the suspects’ possession.

Additional DIG Kamruzzaman said that Shariful Islam, described as the mastermind of the gang, is a notorious criminal with at least 10 prior cases, including murder and kidnapping, filed against him in Faridpur. 

“The arrested men are extremely violent, and it was very challenging for our team to capture them,” he added.

RAB officials further said that efforts are underway to identify and arrest other members of the gang involved in the incident.

 A case has been filed against the arrested persons.
