Kurigram district administration vows to curb crimes, drug smuggling

KURIGRAM, Nov 9, 2025 (BSS) – The district administration today vowed to take stern action against drug smugglers and criminals in the district.

“The local administration has taken a strict stance on curbing drugs and crimes,” said Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sifat Mehnaz after emerging from the monthly law and order meeting at her conference room.

The overall law and order situation in the district was discussed at the meeting.

The DC said the administration will follow a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism, theft, extortion, and drug abuse in the district.

Mehnaz called on the relevant departments to play a more active role in curbing these crimes.

She also urged for a more proactive role from village courts to ensure speedy resolution of land disputes.

The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police Mahfuzur Rahman, Kurigram District Army Camp Commander Major Zabed Hasan, Additional DC Asaduzzaman and Civil Surgeon Dr Swapan Kumar Biswas, among others.
