Sweetmeat shop fined Tk 1.5 lakh in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Nov 9, 2025 (BSS) – The National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate today conducted a mobile court and fined a sweetmeat shop Tk 1.5 lakh for preparing sweets in an unhygienic environment.

Mohammad Faiz Ullah, Deputy Director of the National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate for Chattogram District, said the drive was carried out at Lalkhan Bazar, where dead cockroaches were found in the sweets of Highway Sweets. The shop owner was subsequently fined Tk 1.5 lakh.

During the drive, Oregano Monafa Bhandari Market was fined Tk 10,000 for selling expired food items, while New Prince Hotel was fined Tk 4,000 for producing and processing food in an unhygienic condition.
