5 held as BCL bring out flash procession in Khulna

KHULNA, Nov 12, 2025 (BSS) – Police have arrested five activists of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) for bringing out a flash procession at Power House intersection and Sachibunia bypass road in Khulna city on Tuesday night.

Police and locals said a group of around 40–50 Chhatra League, Jubo League activists brought out a torch procession near Sachibunia Textile Mills around 8 pm. 

On information, police rushed to the spot, but the activists managed to flee. Later, local BNP leaders held a brief protest rally there.

At the same time, a group of BCL activists tried to bring out another procession at the Power House intersection, but police from Sadar and Sonadanga Model Police Stations intervened.

KMP Deputy Commissioner (South) Sudarshan Kumar Roy said police detained three people from Ferryghat area as they attempted to march under the banner of the banned political wing.

He added that additional security measures have been taken in Khulna ahead of November 13, with multiple police checkpoints and mobile patrols deployed.

Meanwhile, miscreants attacked and vandalized the National Citizens’ Party (NCP) district and city offices near Tiger Garden in Khulna early Tuesday night.

Police and locals said a group of unidentified men stormed the office around 1 am, damaging furniture and documents before fleeing. 

No case was filed till Wednesday evening, but Mahmudul Hasan, chief coordinator of NCP Khulna, said legal action is underway.
