BGB seizes smuggled goods worth Tk 41 lakh in Cumilla

CUMILLA, Nov 29, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized a large consignment of illegal Indian goods including sarees, blankets, clothing, and cosmetics worth Taka 41.19 lakh from various points along the Cumilla border.

According to the BGB sources, special patrol teams from Katakbazar Post and Golabari Post in Shiber Bazar of Chauddagram upazila and Bibir Bazar BOP in Adarsha Sadar upazila conducted anti-smuggling operations from Friday night to Saturday morning and seized the smuggled goods from Noapara Chanpur Bridge and Bishnupur border areas.

Cumilla BGB-10 Battalion Commander Mir Ali Ejaz said the battalion is committed to preventing smuggling and other cross-border crimes in the region. 

"As part of our regular anti-smuggling activities, such operations will continue," he added.

The seized items will be handed over to customs authorities following official procedures, the BGB confirmed.
