2 robbers arrested with weapons, ammunition in Sundarbans

BAGERHAT, Nov 29, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Coast Guard today arrested two associates of the notorious Sundarbans robber Karim Sharif Bahini along with weapons and ammunition during a special operation.

The arrested robbers, Faruk Bepari, 30, and Imdadul Bepari, 27, are residents of Mongla police station in Bagerhat district.

Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq, Coast Guard Media Officer, said that acting on secret information, it was learned that members of Karim Sharif Bahini were staying in the Bhaijora Canal area near the Pashur River in the Sundarbans.

Based on the information, Coast Guard Mongla and Station Harbaria conducted a joint operation in the area at 6 am. During the operation, the force arrested two associates and recovered a single-barrel gun, three rounds of live cartridges and four rounds of blank cartridges.

Preliminary interrogation revealed that the duo had long been cooperating with Karim Sharif Bahini in robberies and in supplying weapons, ammunition, and other logistics. 

Legal action against the arrested individuals and further processing of the seized items are underway.
