KCC removes illegal structures from roads, footpaths

KHULNA, Dec 02, 2025 (BSS) – Khulna City Corporation (KCC) today evicted illegal encroachments from several major roads and footpaths across the city.

The daylong operation, led by KCC Executive Magistrate Kohinur Jahan, aimed to ensure smooth movement for pedestrians and vehicles.

During the drive, fines were imposed for various offences: Tk 5,000 on Md Kalam for occupying a footpath to sell shoes and sandals; Tk 5,000 on Joydeb, owner of Modern Hotel, for selling food in an unhygienic environment; Tk 5,000 on Md Anwaruzzaman for storing bricks and sand on KD Ghosh Road and the adjacent footpath; and Tk 2,000 on Md Mashuk, owner of Khulna Builders and Machineries on Jashore Road, for keeping machinery on a footpath. All fines were collected on the spot.

Illegal structures were also cleared from Clay Road, KD Ghosh Road, and the Dakbanglaw area. KCC Estate Officer Gazi Salauddin, along with members of law enforcement agencies, assisted in the operation.

The city corporation stated that the drive will continue in the public interest.
