Business institute in Bogura fined for violating food safety laws

BOGURA, Dec 2, 2025 (BSS) - A mobile court here today fined a business institute Tk 3 lakh for selling counterfeit food colours and flavours, expired products and violating several provisions of consumer rights and food safety laws.

The institute was identified as M/s Rubel Chemical and Ceramics.

The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) and the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority (BFSA) conducted joint operation from 10am to 1pm in the Rajabazar area of the district town today and fined the institute.

DNCRP Assistant Director Mehedi Hasan and District Food Safety Officer Md Rasel led the drive.

They said the establishment had been selling fake food colours and flavours in counterfeit packets using the names of foreign brands. 

The team also detected expired perfume and foreign products without mandatory stickers.

Various brand stickers were also found which were supposed to sell to local shops.

For these irregularities, the mobile court imposed a fine of Tk 3 lakh on the establishment and temporarily sealed it.

Representatives from the Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) and law enforcement agencies were present during the operation.
