MAGURA, Dec 7, 2025 (BSS) - The historic Magura Liberation Day was observed on Sunday with colorful arrangements and due solemnity, as the district paid tribute to the martyrs and heroes of the Liberation War.

The day's events began with a vibrant victory rally starting from the Deputy Commissioner's office premises. Participants-carrying banners, national flags, and festoons-marched through the main streets of the town before returning to the DC office.

Following the rally, a discussion meeting was held at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room, presided over by Deputy Commissioner Abdullah Al Mahmud. 

Freedom fighter leaders, political personalities, government and private-sector officials, and local well-wishers attended the session.

Speakers at the meeting highlighted the heroic contributions of freedom fighters, recalled the history of Magura's liberation, and emphasized the importance of instilling patriotic values in the younger generation.

To mark the day, the district administration organized various programs. Special prayers and supplications were offered at mosques, temples, and other places of worship, seeking eternal peace for the martyrs of the Liberation War as well as the country's continued peace and prosperity.
