KHULNA, Dec 9, 2025 (BSS) - Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Mokhtar Ahmed today said that corruption is a social disease and the fight against it must begin with oneself.

Emphasizing the role of young people, he noted that their strength and active participation can greatly contribute to curbing corruption.

He made the remarks as the chief guest at a discussion marking the International Anti-Corruption Day held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office this morning.

This year’s theme of the day is “Youth united against Corruption: Building a Future of Integrity.”
The chief guest said that if individuals can change their mindset and practice honesty in daily life, society can be freed from this menace.

“Those who engage in corruption lose the voice of their conscience,” he said.
“If we can ensure others’ rights while performing our duties responsibly, legal enforcement will hardly be necessary,” he added.

Deputy Commissioner ASM Jamshed Khondaker presided over the event.

Additional Police Commissioner of KMP Mohammad Rashidul Islam Khan, Additional DIG Zayn Uddin, Director of the ACC Khulna Divisional Office Jalal Uddin Ahmad, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman, and President of the District Corruption Prevention Committee Professor Moni Mohan Saha spoke as special guests.
