Man killed in Chandpur road accident

CHANDPUR, May 24, 2026 (BSS) - A man was killed and another injured in a road accident on Shibpur Bangla Bazar road in Tamta Utatar union under Shahrasti upazila of the district on this morning.

The deceased was Rabiul Alam, 52, a cloth trader and son of late Ali Akbar Master, a resident of Shibpur Noabari area in Shahrasti upazila.

The accident took place around 10.10 am when a sand-laden drum truck hit a CNG-run autorickshaw from behind, leaving autorickshaw passenger Rabiul dead on the spot and its driver injured.

The injured autorickshaw driver, Mehedi Hasan, 23, son of Kamal Hossain of the Islampur Faraji Bari area in neighboring Kachua upazila, was sent to a local hospital.

Officer-in-Charge of Shahrasti Model Police Station Mir Mahbubur Rahman confirmed the matter and said necessary legal action is being taken over the incident.
