Pickup van helper killed in Gopalganj road crash

GOPALGANJ, June 9, 2026 (BSS) - A pickup van helper was killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a pickup van on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Muksudpur upazila of the district this morning.

The deceased was identified as Masud Sheikh, 35, son of late Abdus Samad Howlader of Nagarkanda upazila in Faridpur district.

The accident occurred around 7:30 am in the Daserhat Sheba Green Line Filling Station area, police said.

Officer-in-Charge of Muksudpur Police Station Abdullah Al Mamun said a Khulna-bound truck from Dhaka collided head-on with a pickup van coming from the opposite direction, leaving Masud critically injured.

Locals rescued and took him to Muksudpur Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

On information, members of Muksudpur Police Station and Bhanga Highway Police Station rushed to the spot and seized the two vehicles involved in the accident, the OC said.

The body was handed over to the family after completion of legal formalities.
