World Environment Day observed in Rampal

BAGERHAT, June 9, 2026 (BSS) - A rally, tree plantation and painting competition were held in Rampal today on the occasion of World Environment Day. 

Initiative for Right View (IRV) organized the rally, tree plantation and painting competition at Rampal Pilot Secondary Girls’ School. 

The programme was held under the Climate Resilient Farming-Market Access for Women project implemented in collaboration with the international development organization ActionAid.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ms. Tamanna Ferdousi was present as the chief guest at the programme while Upazila Social Service Officer Md. Shahinur Rahman was present as the special guest. Besides, acting headmaster of the school Shamima Ara Khanam, project coordinator Sourav Bhadra, teachers and students of the school participated.

 At the beginning of the programme, a colorful rally was brought out from the school premises, which ended at the school after parading important roads of the area. 

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ms. Tamanna Ferdousi said that the people in the coastal areas are being affected most by the adverse effects of climate change. The current government has taken various steps to combat the harmful effects of climate change, she added.
