
RAJSHAHI, June 9, 2026 (BSS) - The divisional-level National Primary Education Award Competition-2026 began in Rajshahi today with a colourful and festive ceremony, bringing together students from across the division to showcase their talents in sports, cultural and educational activities.
The competition, featuring sports, cultural events, subject-based quizzes and cubing contests, was inaugurated at the Government Colony field in Helenabad area of Rajshahi city.
Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner Dr. A.N.M. Bazlur Rashid formally opened the event as the chief guest. He hoisted the national flag and released balloons to mark the inauguration before the competitions got underway.
The programme was jointly organised by the Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner's Office and the Office of the Divisional Deputy Director of Primary Education.
Among others, Deputy Inspector General of Police of Rajshahi Range Mohammad Shahjahan, Additional Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Al Mamun and Additional District Magistrate Umme Kulsum Shampa attended the opening ceremony as special guests.
Deputy Director of the Primary Education Department Nur Akhtar Jannatul Ferdous delivered the welcome speech, highlighting the role of such competitions in nurturing children's talents, creativity and leadership qualities.
Teachers from primary schools across the districts of Rajshahi Division, education officials, guardians and a large number of students were present at the event.
Organisers said the competition provides a platform for students to participate in sports, cultural activities, knowledge-based contests and cubing events, helping them develop confidence, leadership skills and creative thinking. Winners at the divisional level will qualify to compete in the national-level competition.
