PATUAKHALI, Sept 2, 2026 (BSS) - A farmer was killed in a lightning strike in Galachipa upazila of the district today.
The deceased was identified as Tapan Shikari, 50, son of Anil Shikari, a resident of Kacharikanada village under Ratnadi Taltali union of the upazila.
As a storm accompanied by rain began at noon, lightning struck him around 1 pm when he was working on his farmland in the village.
Local people and relatives rushed to the spot and rescued him. He died on the way to Galachipa Upazila Health Complex.
Galachipa Police Station Officer-in-Charge Imtiaz Ahmed confirmed the matter.
