DHAKA, Nov 13, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today ordered to freeze nine bank accounts of journalist and UniMed UniHealth Pharmaceuticals Ltd director Subhash Singha Roy and his wife and former lawmaker Mamata Hena Lovely over graft allegations.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). Of the accounts, three are under name of Subhash and six under the name of Lovely.

According to the ACC plea, an investigation officer has been appointed to probe allegations against Subhash over earning money through irregular means and attempting to legalize the illicit funds by depositing them into bank accounts operated under his and his associates' names, as well as transferring money abroad - offenses punishable under the Money Laundering Prevention Act.

Information has been found that Subhash Singha Roy and his wife Mamata Hena Lovely carried out transactions involving crores of taka through their bank accounts.

Based on information obtained from various sources, it has been learned that the accused is attempting to transfer or withdraw the funds kept in these accounts.

"Therefore, in the interest of a proper inquiry, the accounts should be frozen immediately," the plea added.

The court on October 20, 2025, imposed a travel ban on the couple.
