
DHAKA, Nov 29, 2025 (BSS) - Adviser to the BNP Acting Chairman, Dr. Mahadi Amin today said that ailing BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia may be taken abroad for advanced treatment if her condition improves a bit.
"As far as we have heard, if the uncompromising leader's physical condition improves slightly - showered with the prayers and love of the nation - the Zia family is planning to take her to London for advanced treatment," Dr Amin said in a Facebook post oh his verified page.
"Tarique Rahman and his wife have already contacted the hospital and doctors in London where she stayed for four months and recovered significantly earlier this year.
To achieve this, an initiative is also being taken to arrange a special air ambulance equipped with state-of-the-art technology," he added.
He said Dr Zubaida Rahman, Tarique Rahman's wife, is carrying out the key responsibility of coordinating the medical board formed for BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia's treatment.
Mahadi Amin said, "Perhaps many people do not know that Dr. Zubaida Rahman is performing the key duty of coordinating, both domestically and internationally, as an important member of the medical board formed for Khaleda Zia’s treatment.
And from there, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is supervising and managing every step with the utmost priority and unwavering determination, ensuring that no delay or limitation occurs in his loving mother's treatment."
He mentioned that although she is admitted to Evercare Hospital, her treatment is primarily being supervised by local and foreign specialist doctors. Tarique Rahman and his wife are maintaining constant virtual communication with the doctors from London and taking necessary actions, he added.
Dr. Mahadi Amin noted that the national leader Khaleda Zia today represents the emotion, aspiration, and feelings of the entire Bangladesh.
"Although a large number of people are rushing to the hospital to see the national leader, they are unable to enter the Coronary Care Unit (CCU). Entry is prohibited due to the high risk of infection.
People are expressing their love and concern for her from afar," he added.
