DMP imposes ban on gatherings near Supreme Court, Jamuna from Thursday

DHAKA, Dec 9, 2025 (BSS) - The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has announced a ban on all types of gatherings - including rallies, human chains, sit-ins, and processions - in several key areas surrounding the Supreme Court and the official residence of the Chief Justice, Jamuna.

The restriction, enforced under Section 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance (Ordinance No. III/76), takes effect from Thursday and will remain in place until further notice.

The banned zones include Justice Bhaban, Judges Complex, the main gate of the Bangladesh Supreme Court, Mazar Gate, Jame Masjid Gate, the entrances to International Crimes Tribunal 1 and 2, and the Judicial Administration Training Institute.

DMP Commissioner SM Sajjat Ali has also urged citizens not to block roads for protests, emphasizing the need to maintain public order and smooth traffic flow.
