UGC urges university authoties to promote Erasmus Plus scholarships

DHAKA, November 12, 2025 (BSS)- The University Grants Commission (UGC) Member Prof. Masuma Habib today urged the university authorities to raise awareness about the Erasmus Plus Scholarship so that more Bangladeshi students can get benefit from the program.

She made the call while addressing the ‘Erasmus Plus Information Day’ workshop at the UGC auditorium aimed at expanding higher education, research, and scholarship opportunities for Bangladeshi students at European universities.

Urging the EU to further widen higher education opportunities for Bangladeshi students, Prof. Masuma Habib said Bangladeshi students rank third globally among Erasmus Plus recipients.

Prof. Mohammad Ayub Islam and EU Deputy Head of Delegation Baiba Zari?a attended the event as special guests with UGC Director Jasmin Parvin in the chair. 

Addressing the event, Prof. Ayub sought EU-support and training to address the country’s shortage of skilled manpower.  

Teachers and students from 60 universities, along with UGC and EU officials joined the event.
