DMP files 1,513 cases against traffic rule violations

DHAKA, Dec 7, 2025 (BSS) - The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed 1,513 cases against motor vehicles for violating traffic rules in a single day across the capital.

A media release of the DMP today said that they filed those cases and realized the money on Monday (April 23) through their regular drives against the traffic rule breakers.

A total of 374 motor vehicles were dumped and 148 vehicles were towed due to poor driving practices, said Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner (Media and Public Relations Division) of the DMP.

Motijheel Traffic Division filed 218 cases while Wari Division registered 293 cases, Tejgaon Division filed 167 cases, Mirpur Division filed 221 cases, Gulshan Division filed 318 cases, Uttara Division registered 203 cases, Ramna Division filed 76 cases and Lalbagh Division registered 86 cases against the motor vehicles as well as three wheelers and motorcycles, the release said.

"The drives will continue to ensure discipline on the city streets," the release said, adding that the DMP has been working to bring the traffic system under smooth in the capital for giving city dwellers easy movement.
