Two Japanese Scientists exchange views with RU VC

RAJSHAHI, June 9, 2026 (BSS) - Two scientists from Japan's National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES) -- Dr. Takehiro Suzuki and Dr. Kazuyuki Okamura -- paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor of University of Rajshahi (RU), Professor Md. Faridul Islam, and held discussions with him today in the conference room of Administration Building-1.
 
It is noteworthy that the two scientists are conducting collaborative research on arsenic toxicity with the Environmental Health Science Research Group of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at RU. 

During the discussion, both sides emphasized and agreed on the importance of future collaborative research initiatives and the need to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between NIES and RU to strengthen the university's research activities.
 
The Vice-Chancellor thanked the Japanese scientists for their collaborative work with the Environmental Health Science Research Group and expressed hope that joint research activities would be further expanded in the future.
 
It is also noteworthy that findings from the joint research conducted by the Environmental Health Science Research Group of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, RU, and NIES have already been published in several renowned high-quality journals.
