Jury board to select Thakurgaon University monogram holds meeting

DHAKA, June 9, 2026 (BSS) - A meeting of the jury board for the selection of the monogram of Thakurgaon University was held at the Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BdREN) office of the Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC) in the capital today.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Israfil chaired the meeting while artiste Professor Mohammad Yunus, cartoonist Prof Shishir Bhattacharjee and artiste Prof Md. Maksudur Rahman were present.

Bangladesh Cricket Board Director Mirza Faisal Amin, Founder and Executive Director of Eco-Social Development Organization Dr. Muhammad Shahid Uz Zaman, and Dr. Sheikh Mehedi Hasan also joined virtually.

The expert committee shared various opinions regarding the aesthetic features, theme, style, form, size, colors, heritage of Thakurgaon, motifs, symbolism, and philosophical aspects of the university's monogram. 

Members of the jury board expressed optimism that the monogram would reflect progressive thinking and refined taste, moving beyond conventional designs.

The VC said he wishes to see a reflection of artistry, thought, philosophy, and heritage in the monogram of Thakurgaon University. 

After a thorough evaluation and selection process of the monogram designs submitted by the participants, the final version will be unveiled for public viewing.

The monogram of Thakurgaon University will be officially unveiled through a simple and modest ceremony.
