DHAKA, May 24, 2026 (BSS) - Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon today expressed deep sympathy and solidarity with the people of Palestine and reiterated Bangladesh's firm support for the Palestinian cause.

He made the remarks while addressing a film screening programme on the "Nakba" or "catastrophe" held at the Palestinian Embassy in Dhaka.

Palestinians observe the "Nakba" to commemorate the mass displacement of Palestinians from their homeland following the establishment of Israel in 1948.

Marking the occasion, the embassy organised a nearly two-hour film screening highlighting the historical events surrounding the tragedy.

Ambassadors, diplomats, distinguished personalities and media representatives attended the programme.

At the beginning of the event, the Palestinian ambassador presented a commemorative crest to the information minister and expressed gratitude to the government and people of Bangladesh for their continued support for Palestine.
