Shafiqur Rahman sworn in as Jamaat chief for third consecutive term

DHAKA, Nov 28, 2025 (BSS) - Dr. Shafiqur Rahman today took oath as the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer for the third consecutive term, covering 2026 to 2028.

The oath was administered by the party's internal chief election commissioner, Maulana ATM Masum, at 6:30 pm.

The ceremony began with a recitation from the Holy Quran by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Bandarban district Ameer Maulana Abdus Salam Azad.

Leaders from various Islamic and political parties attended the event as invited guests. 

Among them were Islami Andolon Bangladesh Presidium member Professor Ashraf Ali Akhon, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish Nayeb-e-Ameer Maulana Mahiuddin Rabbani, Khelafat Majlish Secretary General Dr. Ahmad Abdul Quader and Nayeb-e-Ameer Maulana Ahmad Ali Quashemi, Bangladesh Khelafat Andolon Ameer Habibullah Miaji, Nayeb-e-Ameer Maulana Mujibur Rahman Hamidi and Secretary General Maulana Yusuf Sadique Hakkani, Bangladesh Nezame Islam Party Nayeb-e-Ameer Abdul Mazed Atahari and Secretary General Musa Bin Ijhar and representatives from Jatiya Ganotantrik Party (JAGPA), including Vice President and Spokesperson Engineer Rashed and General Secretary Professor Iqbal Hossen.

Also present were Bangladesh Development Party Chairman Advocate AKM Anwarul Islam Chan, Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Secretary General Dr. Redwan Ahmed, Presidium Member Dr. Neamul Bashir and Lt Gen (Retd) Hasan Suhrawardy, Gono Odhikar Parishad President and former DUCSU VP Nurul Haque Nur and General Secretary Hasan Mamun, Khelafat Andolon Secretary General Mufti Fakhrul Islam, Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) Secretary General Abdul Matin Saud, Bangladesh Labour Party Vice-Chairman SM Yousuf Ali and National Democratic Party (NDP) Chairman Alhaz Qari M Abu Taher, among others.
