Metro rail offers 25pc discount for senior citizens, special needs passengers

DHAKA, May 24, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) has announced a 25 percent discount on single-trip metro rail tickets for senior citizens and passengers with disabilities or special needs.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam is scheduled to inaugurate the programme tomorrow at 12:30 pm at Farmgate Metro Station.

According to a DMTCL press release, citizens aged 65 years and above will receive the discount upon showing their National Identity Card (NID) at ticket counters.

Passengers with disabilities or special needs will be eligible for the concession by presenting the "Subarna" identity card issued under the Ministry of Social Welfare.
