DMP files 1,448 cases for traffic rule violations

DHAKA, June 9, 2026 (BSS) – The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed a total of 1,448 cases against vehicles, owners and drivers for violating traffic rules

Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations Division) of DMP NM Nasiruddin said the DMP Traffic Division conducted drives against traffic rule violators over the last 24 hours and filed the cases.

He said the DMP Traffic Police also impounded 425 vehicles and towed 237 others during the drives conducted on June 8, according to a press release issued today. 

Several teams of the DMP Traffic Division have been working to ensure smooth traffic movement across the capital.

The release further said that the drives against traffic rule violators would continue to maintain discipline on Dhaka's streets.

During the drives, the Ramna Division filed 68 cases, the Lalbagh Division 146, the Motijheel Traffic Division 297, the Wari Division 174, the Tejgaon Division 114, the Mirpur Division 348, the Uttara Division 80, and the Gulshan Division 221 cases against motor vehicles, including three-wheelers and motorcycles, it added.
