
DHAKA, June 9, 2026 (BSS) - The government has formed a committee to develop
a rational, coordinated and dignified salary structure for entry-level
doctors working in private hospitals, clinics, medical and dental colleges
across the country.
The committee has been tasked with formulating a structured pay scale for
medical professionals in the private sector, according to an office order
issued today.
The Director General of the Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME)
has been made the convener of the committee, while the Director (Human
Resource Management) of DGME will serve as member secretary.
Other members of the committee include the Director General of the
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Joint Secretary (Private
Health Management) of the Health Services Division, Joint Secretary (Medical
Education) of the Health Education and Family Welfare Division, Director
(Medical Education) of DGME and Director (Hospitals) of DGHS.
The terms of reference of the committee include reviewing existing salaries,
allowances and other financial benefits of entry-level doctors working in
private healthcare institutions and collecting relevant data in this regard.
The committee will also consult stakeholders and prepare a draft of a
rational, integrated and dignified salary structure for entry-level
physicians.
It has been instructed to submit its report, along with necessary
recommendations for implementation, to the Secretary of the Health Education
and Family Welfare Division within 20 working days.
The office order said the committee may co-opt any additional member if
necessary.
