
CHATTOGRAM, June 9, 2026 (BSS) - Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) has launched a dedicated Cyber Support and Response Center to strengthen cyber security and provide swift assistance to victims of online crimes. CMP Commissioner Hasan Md. Shawkat Ali inaugurated the center at the CMP headquarters today.
The newly established center will receive complaints related to online fraud, hacking, fake social media accounts and other cyber-related offences, while offering immediate support to affected individuals.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the police commissioner said the center would provide necessary advice and guidance to victims based on the nature of their complaints and help preserve digital evidence crucial for investigations.
He said the facility would assist victims in securing and documenting evidence such as screenshots, web links, call records and SMS records related to cyber crimes, making investigations more effective and efficient.
The commissioner also noted that the center would work to raise public awareness about cyber security by educating citizens on password protection, safeguarding personal information, responsible use of social media and other digital safety measures.
In addition, the center will facilitate communication with relevant police stations, national helplines and other institutions whenever necessary, he added.
Officials said the Cyber Support and Response Center is expected to play an important role in preventing cyber crimes and enhancing public awareness about online safety. Senior CMP officials were present at the inauguration ceremony.
