DHAKA, June 9, 2026 (BSS) - The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has announced a full waiver of the 15 percent surcharge on outstanding municipal taxes if taxpayers clear their dues by June 30, 2026.

The decision was disclosed at an exchange meeting with leaders of DSCC's own market committees, where discussions also covered power saving measures, waste management, dengue control, trade licensing, and overall urban management issues. The meeting was held at the Nagar Bhaban auditorium and chaired by DSCC Administrator Md. Abdus Salam.

Officials said the initiative is aimed at boosting revenue collection for the 2025-26 fiscal year while encouraging taxpayers to settle overdue municipal taxes without additional financial burden.

Under the decision, taxpayers who pay their outstanding dues within the deadline will not have to pay the previously imposed 15 percent surcharge.

The measure is expected to improve compliance and strengthen the corporation's revenue collection efforts ahead of the fiscal year deadline.
