DHAKA, Nov 4, 2025 (BSS) - Veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim prepares him well
for his 100th Test as first Bangladeshi batter by hitting a brilliant century
in the 27th National Cricket League (NCL) today.
Despite his century, Sylhet salvaged a draw against Dhaka Division at Sylhet
Academy ground.
The Sylhet International Cricket Stadium will host the first Test between
Bangladesh and Ireland, which will be Mushfiqur's 99th Test. If everything
goes well, he will play his 100th Test at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket
Stadium when Bangladesh will play the second and final Test against Ireland.
Mushfiqur was on 93 as Sylhet began the fourth and final day with 260-7. They
added just 30 runs to the overnight total before being all out for 290.
Mushfiqur, however, scored 22 of those 30 but was not able to help the side
gain a lead after being the last batter out, as Sylhet conceded a 20-run
first innings lead.
Dhaka pacer Ripon Mondol claimed 4-50 to play a key role in denying Sylhet a
lead. Najmul Islam Apu and Anamul Haque grabbed two wickets apiece.
Dhaka, which were bowled out for 310 in the first innings, declared the
second innings on 222-2, setting 242-run for Sylhet in a match, consistently
interrupted by rain in the first three days.
Opener Jishan Alam missed out a century by being out for 94 while Ashikur
Rahman Shibli made 59 not out.
Sylhet reached 13 for no loss in the remaining four overs as the bails were
drawn for the last time in the match.
