DHAKA, Nov 12, 2025 (BSS)-Bangladesh have raised hopes for their best result yet at the Teer 24th Asian Archery Championships 2025, as the team of Bonna Akter and Himu Bachhar pair reached to the final of the compound mixed event today.

In one of the two semi-finals at the National Stadium, Bangladesh defeated their South Korean counterparts 158-153 (39-37, 39-38, 40-39, 40-39).

Bangladesh began their elimination round campaign with a 154-148 victory over Bhutan. In the quarter-finals, they faced Iran, where the match ended 154-154 before the hosts secured a thrilling 19-18 win in the tiebreaker.

Later in the morning session, they took on the strong South Korean pair of Jongho Kim and Yerin Park- and once again, Bonna and Himu prevailed in style.

Bangladesh will play the gold medal match against India tomorrow (Thursday) comprising Abhishek Verma and Deepshikha, who beat Kazakhstan 156-153 in the other semi-final.

After reaching the final, Himu in his immediate reaction said: “We’re really happy to reach into the final. We’ve played together in three or four international events before, but never won a medal. This is the first time we’ve reached in a final. Our goal is to perform well- we’ve always tried to achieve something for the country.”

Bonna said, “So far, we haven’t had any remarkable results, but I hope this time will be different. In 2024, I won silver in the individual event in Bhutan. I’ve been in the national team for nine years now, and I’m hopeful that something good will happen this time.

Meanwhile, in the recurve mixed event, Bangladesh made a promising start but failed to maintain their rhythm later on.

After receiving a bye in the opening stage of the elimination round, the pair of Sima Akter Shimu and Ram Krishna Saha advanced to the quarter-finals by defeating Kazakhstan by 5-4 set points (34-32, 36–36, 37-32, 37–37).

However, in the quarter-finals, Bangladesh faced a strong Indian team, and was eliminated after a 5-1 defeat in set points (36–38, 36–36, 35–37).
