BRISBANE, Australia, Dec 7, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - England were dismissed for 241 in the second session of the fourth day of the second Ashes Test at the Gabba in Brisbane on Sunday, setting Australia a target of 65 for victory.
Captain Ben Stokes top-scored for England with a gritty 50, while Michael Neser was the pick of the Australian bowlers with 5-42.
England had started the day at 134-6, still 43 runs from making Australia bat again.
Many expected the visitors to slump to another devastating loss following their first Test disaster, when they lost inside two days, but Stokes and Will Jacks defied the bowlers for three hours.
The pair scored slowly but at least gave England supporters some hope.
However, the end came quickly once they fell in successive overs from Neser, with the tail offering little resistance.
Local hero Neser, controversially selected ahead of off-spinner Nathan Lyon, used his knowledge of the Gabba to full advantage with career-best figures.
