
DHAKA, June 9, 2026 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) approved a
series of key administrative and infrastructure decisions during the second
emergency meeting of its newly elected Board of Directors held today at Sher-
e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
The board finalized the formation of its standing committees and other
committees for the new term, assigning responsibilities across cricket
operations, development, governance and commercial activities.
Tamim Iqbal, who was elected BCB president will take responsibility of
Working Committee along with leading the Facilities Management Committee.
Fahim Sinha was named chairman of both the Game Development Committee and the
Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Governing Council, while Shanian Taneem
Naveen will head the Grounds Committee and High Performance Committee.
Former national selector Minhajul Abedin will lead the Age Group Committee,
with Md Shofiqul Alam serving as vice-chairman. Masuduzzaman will lead the
Marketing Committee and serve as vice-chairman of the BPL Governing Council.
The board also approved committees overseeing finance, tournaments, women's
cricket, media and communications, medical affairs, logistics, welfare,
security, umpiring, disciplinary matters, audit and cricket coordination, a
BCB press release said.
As part of its governance decisions, the board accepted the resignation of
director Mir Shakrul Alam Simanto from the BCB Board of Directors.
The meeting also focused heavily on infrastructure development at the Sher-e-
Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur.
The board approved expenditures related to the construction of a swimming
pool and the development of modern gymnasium facilities at the stadium as
part of efforts to enhance player training and recovery resources.
In addition, it sanctioned a budget for installing shade structures and
renovating toilet facilities in the general gallery to improve spectator
comfort and match-day experience.
The board further approved the purchase of a dedicated team bus for
Bangladesh national cricket teams.
Another major decision involved upgrading the two main dressing rooms,
players' dining room and viewing areas at the SBNCS, aimed at improving
facilities for both local and international cricketers.
