DAE distributes seeds, fertilisers as incentives to 70,050 farmers in Khulna

 KHULNA, Jan 24, 2026(BSS) - The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Khulna Zone has begun distributing of seeds and fertilizers among 70,050 listed farmers of the region during 2025-2026 season.

Each of the farmers is getting the incentives for 11 types of agriculture crops against one bigha (33 shatak) land to increase Rabi Crops production in the current season.

Officials of the DAE said the incentive in terms of seed and fertilizers is being distributed among the farmers to assist them in cultivating 11 varieties of different crops during the current Rabi season.

“Of those, the DAE is distributing agri-incentives for boro paddy, wheat, mustard, groundnut, sunflower, onion, vegetables, and four kind of pulses (Mug, Mosur, Khesari, Arohor),” said Md Rafiqul Islam, Additional Director of the DAE Khulna region today.

Under the programme, each of the beneficiary farmers is receiving one to 20-kg seed of different crops, 10 to 20-kg ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and five to 10-kg Muriate of Potash (MoP) fertilizers free of costs to cultivate crops on one bigha of land.

MdRafiqul Islam said the farmers are getting incentives as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Agriculture. They are getting seed and fertilizers from the authorized dealers of the government.

“Monitoring and rehabilitation committee headed by UNO in each upazila is distributing the government incentives,” he said.

Farmers of the region are now very busy of producing Rabi crops, vegetables, he said, adding that the interim government has taken various steps for increasing production in the agricultural sector.
