RAJSHAHI, July 4, 2024 (BSS)- Chamber leaders and development activists at a meeting underscored the need for attaining competence for successful employment in various private enterprises as many entrepreneurs are seen searching for skilled workforce to make their enterprises profitable and sustainable.

Currently, employment scopes were generated in different working fields related to trade and business enormously mounting the demand of skilled and competent workforces, they said.
They came up with the observation while addressing a meeting with the authority of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industries (RCCI) and members of Leave No One behind (LNOB) Coalition at RCCI conference hall here today.

On behalf of its "Empowering Left behind minority communities to effectively participate in the Development process of Bangladesh (ELMC)" project, Wave Foundation organised the divisional meeting co-funded by the European Union.

Some other like-minded organisations, including Bandhu Social Welfare Society, Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust, Citizens Initiatives, Christian aid and LNOB Coalition, supported it.

RCCI President Masudur Rahman and its Senior Vice-president Sultan Mahmud addressed the meeting as the chief and special guests respectively with LNOB Vice-president Akbarul Hassan Millat in the chair.

During his keynote presentation, Manuel Tu du, divisional facilitator of ELMC Project, gave an illustration of the project along with its aims, objectives and implementation strategy along with so far achievements.

 LNOB Vice-president Foyzullah Chowdhury, General Secretary Bimol Chandra Razoad and members Liakat Ali, Mostofa Sarker Bijli, Matiur Rahman and Mohona also spoke.
In his remarks, Chamber leader Masudur Rahman said utmost emphasis should be given on generating competent workforces to make the country's productive sectors profitable and sustainable.

"We are ready to give jobs in our enterprises but we need competent and devoted workers," he said, adding that no entrepreneurs can provide jobs to the worthless people.

The meeting also discussed and devised ways and means on how to arrange employment for the unemployed youths, particularly the ethnic minorities.

It has also unanimously said utmost emphasis should be given on bringing the left behind communities, including dalit, transgender, ethnic minorities and people with special needs, under the country's development process together with their empowerment.

On the occasion, curriculum vitae of 40 unemployed youths were handed over to the RCCI president for their employment.
