Price fall in large-cap drives stocks down

DHAKA, Sept 18, 2025 (BSS) - Country's both bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange 
(DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) - today plunged due to mainly price 
fall in large-cap securities.
 
DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, lost 42.4 points to settle at 5,450 points 
as against 5,492 points in the previous trading session. 
 
Market turnover decreased to a 1-month low, falling by 11.2% to Taka 6.5 
billion from Taka 7.4 billion in the previous session. 
 
On the sectoral front, Pharma (14.8%) issues exerted the highest turnover, 
followed by Textile (12.9%) and Bank (12.9%) sectors. 
 
All the sectors displayed negative returns, out of which Paper (-3.3%), Jute 
(-3.0%) and Ceramic (-2.2%) exerted the most corrections on the bourse today. 

Out of the 397 issues traded, 43 advanced, 301 declined and 53 remained 
unchanged. 

The port city bourse, CSE, also settled on red terrain. The Selective 
Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) declined by 46.2 
points and 78.2 points, respectively.
