DHAKA, Dec 4, 2025 (BSS) - Country's both bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) today plunged as deteriorating investor sentiment pushed most scrip into the red.

DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, declined by 40.9 points and settled at 4,887 points as against 4,927 points in the previous trading session.

Sellers continued their dominance across the trading board as cautious investors sought to limit further losses, pushing the benchmark index into negative trajectory as the session progressed.

Moreover, investor participation also remained subdued, with market turnover declining further by 10.1% to Taka 3.6 billion from Taka 4.1 billion in the previous session.

On the sectoral front, Textile (16.0%) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Food (14.7%) and Pharmaceuticals (12.2%) sectors. All the sectors displayed negative returns, out of which Services (-5.4%), Paper (-3.4%) and IT (-2.5%) exerted the most corrections on the bourse today.

Out of the 397 issues traded, 33 advanced, 305 declined and 59 remained unchanged.

The port city bourse, CSE, mirrored the similar bearish trend. The Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) plunged by 70.0 points and 114.1 points, respectively.
