Nagad, Bengal Commercial Bank sign deal to expand digital transactions

DHAKA, Aug 24, 2026 (BSS) - Nagad, the mobile financial service provider, and Bengal Commercial Bank have signed a strategic partnership to facilitate digital financial transactions, including Add Money, remittance disbursement and transactions through the National Payment Switch Bangladesh (NPSB).

Under the agreement, Nagad will maintain a Trust Cum Settlement Account with Bengal Commercial Bank, while the partnership will make various digital financial services between the two institutions more seamless, said a press release here today.

The agreement is also expected to boost business operations between the two organisations and facilitate inward remittances sent through the bank directly to families in remote parts of the country through the Nagad network.

The signing ceremony was held at Bengal Commercial Bank's head office in Gulshan on Sunday. Managing Director of Bengal Commercial Bank KM Awlad Hossain and Bangladesh Bank-appointed Administrator of Nagad Md. Motasem Billah signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.

The partnership will also simplify customer integration and onboarding processes for both entities, which, according to the organisations, will help expand financial inclusion and accelerate cashless transactions nationwide.

Speaking at the event, Motasem Billah said Nagad's network spans every city, village and neighbourhood from Teknaf to Tetulia, allowing customers to use its services for bill payments, cashouts, cash-ins and other digital transactions.

"Why should Nagad use this vast network alone? Instead, we want financial institutions like Bengal Commercial Bank to leverage our network to offer their services, such as nano-loans, EMIs, and DPS. I believe this will truly drive the country towards a cashless economy," he added.

Awlad Hossain said the partnership would make digital financial transactions easier, faster and more secure by creating deposit and loan opportunities for customers.

"At the same time, this initiative will play an important role in expanding remittance services and cashless transactions," he said.

The release said Nagad has also been conducting various initiatives to encourage digital transactions and boost legal remittance inflows. Currently, users can make payments through the Nagad app at 10 lakh Bangla QR merchant outlets across the country.
