DHAKA, Sept 1, 2026 (BSS): The sugarcane plantation programme for the 2026-27 season has been inaugurated at Faridpur Sugar Mill.

The programme was inaugurated today through planting sugarcane on beds using the rope method at the land of farmer Md Muktar Hossain under unit number 9 of the Mill Gate-B sub-zone.

Secretary of Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation (BSFIC) Mohammad Mujibur Rahman inaugurated the plantation programme as the chief guest.

Faridpur Sugar Mill Managing Director Agriculturist Tareq Farhad, officials and employees of the mill, leaders of the labour union and representatives of the Sugarcane Growers Welfare Association were present on the occasion.

Farmers showed enthusiasm and excitement at the beginning of the sugarcane plantation season.

The concerned authorities expressed hope that production could be increased this season through modern methods of sugarcane cultivation.
