Deep Eye Care Foundation inaugurated in Debiganj

PANCHAGARH, Feb 5, 2024(BSS) - Deep Eye Care Foundation (DECF)  was inaugurated at Kacharipara village under Debiganj upazila of the district on Sunday.

Vice Chancellor of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Medical University, Sylhet Professor Dr AHM Enayet Hussain formally inaugurated the centre as the chief guest by cutting a ribbon. 

Orbis International and Deep Eye Care Foundation, Rangpur have jointly been arranged the programe under the project establishing a model of women led green vision center in remote rural areas of Bangladesh.

The chief guest said the DECF is a non-government, community based eye health care organization which commenced its strenuous journey on October 9, 2008 in Rangpur with a view to provide equitable and quality eye care services to all the people of northern part of Bangladesh. Since its inception, it has always been a matter of special emphasis to reach the unreached people and the poorest segment of the society where the impact of needless avoidable blindness is most damaging.

 He said the eye care vision center would help for eye patient. I have become overwhelm that an eye care center has been established in Debiganj upazila for eye treatment. Many poor eye patients do not go to Rangpur or Dinajpur for eye treatment. From Now the poor eye patient will get primary eye treatment from Debiganj eye center. If we can good work this way than Bangladesh will go ahead Our joint effort.
 
With executive director of DECF, Rangpur Dr Kairul Islam in the chair, it was addressed, among others, by upazila chairman Abdul Malek Chistee, UNO of Debiganj Sariful Alam, municipality mayor Abu Bakar, Dr Anowarul Karim, upazila Awami League President Gias Uddin Chowdhury. 

After ending the programme, a number of poor eye patients were given free eye treatment.
