CHAPAINAWABGANJ, July 11, 2024 (BSS) - Three persons were killed by lightning strikes in three separate places in Chapainawabganj sadar and Nachole upazilas this afternoon.

The deceased were Komla Roy, 50, wife of Parosh Roy of Amarok village under Gobratala union of Chapainawabganj sadar upazila, Osman Gani, 30, son of Akher Ali of Jhaljhalia village under Nachole sadar union and Uzzal, 45, son of Montaj Ali of Shyampur village under Bangabari union of Gomostapur upazila all in Chapainawabganj district.
 
Police and local sources said, Komla Roy was working at home and Osman Gani and Uzzal were working at crop lands at Jhaljhalia and Kamarjogdoil Dighipara respectively in Nachole upazila in the afternoon.
 
Sudden strikes of thunderbolt killed Komla and Osman Gani on the spot and seriously injured Uzzal was rushed to the Upazila Health Complex where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Officer in charge (OC) of Chapainawabganj sadar model thana Md. Mehedi Hasan and OC of Nachole thana Md. Tarequr Rahman Sarker confirmed the casualties.
