CHATTOGRAM, July 16, 2024 (BSS) - A Chattogram court today sentenced life-term imprisonment to a man for raping a 15-year-old girl in Narayanhat hilly area under Fatikchari upazila in the district in 2019.

Judge of Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal-7 Begum Ferdouse Ara passed the judgment convicting Mohammad Parvaj alias Masud, a resident of the aforesaid area.

The court also fined him TK two lakh, in default, he will have to suffer one year more imprisonment.

According to the prosecution, Parvaj raped his 15-year-old sister-in-law and made video by a hidden mobile on August 5, 2019.

Later, Parvaj again raped the girl on September 15, 2019 by intimidating her that he would made the video footage viral.

Later, victim’s sister filed a rape case against Parvaj with Fatichari thana on September 27.

Police submitted the charge sheet before the court on November 17, while the court framed charges on October 17 in 2021.

The court after examining nine prosecution witnesses out of 12 awarded the judgement convicting Parvaj alias Masud.      

The convicted person was present during the pronouncement of the verdict.
