NETRAKONA July 16, 2024 (BSS)-A seven-day long tree plantation drive and tree fair-2024 began here today.

Netrakona District Administration and District Forest Department jointly took the program and organized the fair at the old collectorate building in the town here to popularize the tree plantation program of the government, organizers said.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Netrakona Shahed Parvez formally inaugurated the tree fair with a call to all to plant saplings of fruit-bearing, timber and medicinal trees in around all the house premises for maintaining ecological balance and protecting bio-diversity to meet the demand of nutrition and wood.

A large number of people from all walks of life including Police Super Netrakona Mohammad Foyaz Ahmed, Mayor of Netrakona Municipality Nazrul Islam Khan and Divisional Forest Officer of Mymensing region ANM Abdul Wadud were present in the inaugural function.

A total of 30 colorful stalls of saplings of different trees were put on display in the tree fair ground.

The DC Netrakona visited all the stalls in the fair ground.

Earlier, as part of the tree plantation drive, a colorful rally was brought out in the district town from the DC office premises and the rally was ended at the fair ground after parading the main roads of the town.

Deputy Commissioner Netrakona Shahed Parvez led the rally.
