CHAPAINAWABGANJ, July 17, 2024 (BSS) - A court here on Tuesday afternoon sentenced a man to 17 years imprisonment in an arms case.
 
The convicted person is Faruk, 30, son of Bodiuzzaman of Arunbari village under Gobratala union in Chapainawabganj sadar upazila.
 
Senior Session Judge and also the Judge of Special Tribunal-1 Md. Adeeb Ali announced the verdict in presence of the convict, court sources said.
 
According to the prosecution, on a tip-off, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) conducted a raid at Rehaichar under Chapainawabganj municipality on June 26, 2021 and arrested Faruk with a pistol, a shooter gun, a magazine and four bullets.

A case was filed with Chapainawabganj Sadar Model Police Station on the same day in this connection.

Investigating officer (IO) of the case Sub-inspector Rony Kumar Das submitted charge-sheet to the court against Faruk on July 8, 2021.

After the hearing, the court handed down the punishment.
