JAMALPUR, July 29, 2024 (BSS) -Shortly after receding flood water farmers in
the district have begun planting of T-Aman (Transplanted Aman) seedling in
full swing.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office sources said farmers already
cultivated T-Aman on 5,200 hectares of land till today of which high yielding
variety on 3,120 hectares and High breed on 2,080 hectares of land.
According to DAE, target of T- Aman cultivation was fixed on 1,12,896
hectares of land with production target 3,53,108 tonnes rice in the district
this current Kharip-2 season.
The office sources said the production target is 3,177 tonnes more than the
last year production.
The office said three type of T-Aman is being planted of which high yielding
variety (HYV) on 74,146 hectares with a production target 2,13,540 tonnes of
rice, High breed on 33,800 hectares with a production target 1,30,806 tonnes
of rice and local on 4,950 hectares with a production target 8,762 tonnes of
rice.
The office said 30,410 hectares land with a production target 92,584 tonnes
rice was fixed in Jamalpur sadar upazila while 15,300 hectares with a
production target 47,886 tonnes in Sarishabari, 17,440 hectares with a
production target 52,443 tonnes in Melandah, 11,366 hectares with a
production target 32,363 tonnes in Islampur, 9,195 hectares with a production
target 31,176 tonnes in Dewanganj, 15,920 hectares with a production target
50,411 tonnes in Madarganj and 13,265 hectares with a production target
46,245 tonnes in Bakshiganj.
Deputy Director, DAE, Zakia Sultana said after receding flood water farmers
are busy in planting T-Aman seedlings. She said farmers prepared sufficient
T-Aman seedlings as a pre-cautionary measure of flood. She said farmers have
adequate seedling of T-Aman to complete the cultivation.
Aiming to increase production 10,800 small and marginal farmers in all the
seven upazilas of the district got incentive on seed and fertilizer for
cultivation T-Aman. Each of the farmers got five kilogram high yielding
variety Aman paddy seed, ten kilogram Di-ammonium phosphate ( DAP) fertilizer
and ten kilogram Muriate of Potash (MOP) fertilizer free of cost for
cultivation one Bigha of land.
