NOAKHALI, Oct 23, 2024 (BSS)- A court here today sentenced two youths to life-term imprisonment for killing a Madrasha student at Shahdatpur village under Begumganj upazila of the district in 2019.
 
Judge of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Mohammad Abdur Rahim pronounced the judgment in a crowded court in presence of the convicts.
 
The convicts are- Abdur Rahim Rony and Md Salman Hossain Shiblu, both hailed from Daulatpur village under the upazila.
 
According to the prosecution, Meheroz Hossain Jisan, 7, a class-two student of Kashem Ulum Madrasha of Jirtoli Bazar of the upazila, was kidnapped by the convicts on March 11 in 2019 around 1pm while returning home from the madrasha. They took him to an abandoned house at Shahdatpur village under Sadar upazila and strangulated to death.
 
Two days after the death, police recovered the body of Jisan and filed a case with Begumganj Thana in this connection. Police, later, arrested the two youths and submitted a charge sheet against them.
 
The court announced the judgment after examining a total of 22 prosecution witnesses.
