Elderly woman killed in Rangpur road accident

RANGPUR, Sept 17, 2025 (BSS) - An elderly woman Fatema Begum, 68, was killed in a road accident at the Pirganj bus stand flyover on the Dhaka-Rangpur 
highway under Pirganj upazila in the district on Wednesday.
 
Pirganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Shafiqul Islam said the 
accident occurred when a Rajshahi-bound passenger bus leaving Rangpur hit a 
rickshaw van from behind, causing the rickshaw van passenger woman to fall 
onto the road. 
 
The killer bus ran over Fatema Begum killing her on the spot and sped away. 
Police later recovered the body of the deceased. 
 
Fatema Begum was the wife of Manik Mondal of Gangarampur village of Pirganj 
Municipality in the upazila.
 
"No case had been filed in this incident as of 7:30 pm," the OC added.
