CHATTOGRAM, Nov 2, 2025 (BSS) – The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against Dr. Sarwar Jahan, treasurer of Southern University, and Md. Mozammel Haque, former registrar, for embezzling around Tk 6.5 crore.
The case was filed by Md. Alamgir Hossain, deputy assistant director of the ACC head office, at the ACC’s Integrated District Office-1 this morning.

According to the case statement, treasurer Sarwar Jahan withdrew Tk 28,08,990 from the university fund in May 2010, falsely claiming to have repaid a loan to Mohammad Ilyas without actually taking any loan.

In 2007, the university’s 14th board meeting authorized the opening of an account in his name at a branch of First Security Islami Bank, where Tk 6,68,00,000 was deposited on June 22, 2010.

Jahan subsequently withdrew all the funds from the account without providing any supporting documents for the expenses. Additionally, he carried out agent banking activities under the name “Southern University Bangladesh” through Asia PLC.
