SATKHIRA, Nov 27, 2025 (BSS) - The Forest Department seized 860 kilograms of snails during a special operation in Munshiganj Hajir Mor area under Shyamnagar upazila of the district last night.

Being informed that a group of individuals had been illegally collecting snails from various rivers in the Sundarbans Satkhira Range and stockpiling them for sale, a team from the Forest Department conducted a raid in the area and seized the snail.

The operation was conducted by Satkhira Range Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) Md. Fazlul Haque, Burigoalini Station Officer Ziaur Rahman, Munshiganj Forest Patrol Outpost OC Nirmal Babu, and other forest officials.

The seized snails were released into the Chuna River in the Sundarbans Satkhira Range on Thursday morning, officials confirmed.

ACF Md. Fazlul Haque emphasized the importance of continued enforcement drives to protect the delicate biodiversity of the Sundarbans, saying such actions are vital to preserving the region's ecological balance.
